How do electric cars perform in cold weather? To alleviate concerns about the limitations of batteries during cold weather, this man drove his Tesla Model S 535 kilometers (332 miles) from Oslo to Trondheim. While a single test is obviously not statistically significant, the video clearly shows Tesla Model S (and its Panasonic batteries) handling the Norwegian winter conditions very well.

According to Tesla, Model S went through a series of of demanding winter driving tests at Baudette, Minnesota, one of the coldest places in the continental United States. The Automotive Enviro Testing facility offered 820 acres of snow and ice and 19 different courses of varied winter terrain. This allowed Tesla engineers to fully evaluate Model S vehicle dynamics, durability, range and performance under the most extreme conditions.
